#Webcam settings app mac software

That's a shame, because it's a nice app and I bet many people are not using the software simply because they don't know it exists. It's mentioned in very small print on the box of my new C920, but there's no download link and no instruction manual, however brief. True, it's not hard to find once you start looking, but to be fair to Peter Borsella Logitech doesn't do a great job of promoting either the Mac or Windows versions of the software. Thanks to Aer and others who've helped draw attention to the Mac version of Logi Capture.

To prevent the Mac from frying I'd prefer to use Logi Capture only for initial setup of the camera, if that's possible. That works, but puts a very heavy CPU load on my 2015 MacBook Pro. I see that some – though not all – video apps on my Mac recognise Logi Capture as an input source distinct from the webcam itself. My next step is to try and use OBS or other software as a go-between to keep FaceTime from taking over the camera's settings.Īre the settings made in Logi Capture supposed to be stored in the camera, so that other apps can take advantage of them when Logi Capture itself is not running? In my experience that doesn't work. I'm curious if the others from this thread have a similar experience, which camera/video-using applications have you tried the camera with and does the issue persist if you don't use FaceTime? While I'm sure there's a CLi option to kill the facetime camera control process, I don't know what it is, and without that only a reboot releases the camera from Apple's buggy crappy clutches. All third party apps (Meet, Zoom, Messenger, etc) have no problem using the settings from both Camera Settings/Logi Capture, and even Photobooth seems ok, but as soon as FaceTime opens it takes control of the camera settings. The 930e also uses H.264 video compression, so you're less likely to experience lag or video skips while on your conference call. If the software isn't compatible with your PC, you can just use the webcam without zoom or pan (autofocus still works, though).

In regards to the rest of the thread, I've noticed FaceTime is the only application unable to make use of the camera properly. Luckily, the Camera Settings app is optional. Multiple responses here point to the necessary software that exists for every recent MacOS version. You're right, that does sound stupid, and yes you are just missing it somehow.
